In the beginning, Mr. H.K. Shannon started Shannon Insurance Agency with 50 policies. In the 1950s, Robert Shannon joined the agency to assist his father in the operation of the business. In the early 1960s, Doug Shannon joined the agency as a partner with brother Robert. That partnership continued until 1980 when Doug purchased the agency from Robert, and he continued to operate the growing agency until June 2000. From there, The Farmers Bank acquired Shannon Insurance Agency before it was sold to Paul Fuqua in 2005.
Shannon Insurance Agency continues to grow and is now able to reach out into Robertson County as well as Sumner County to provide a wide array of products and services. The agency offers personal insurance such as auto, homeowner’s, and life insurance, as well as health and long term care insurance. For businesses, they offer property, general liability, workers compensation, commercial auto, and surety bonds.
